Stephen Hawking was vorige week een hot topic. Ik weet even niet meer of hij het tot trending topic heeft geschopt op twitter, maar hij zat er hoogstwaarschijnlijk niet ver vandaan. In zijn nieuwste boek stelt Hawking dat de schepping onmogelijk het werk kan zijn van God, een God of een intelligent ontwerper. Uiteraard deed dit zowel bij voorstanders als tegenstanders veel stof opwaaien. Reacties varieerden van “zie je nou wel” tot “ik ben erg benieuwd naar de bewijsvoering”. De tweede reactie was een tweet van André Rouvoet, Demissionair MP.

The Violet Burning – 2010 concert!

Last Tuesday, we paid another visit to a concert from The Violet Burning. Unfortunately we were not able to see their gig at the Flevo Festival. However, another show was planned a few days later in Hellevoetsluis.
The night kicked off with a warm up by the soul nite band. I guess it was a band from the local area as I have not heard from them before. They played some nice songs though.
Thereafter, Michael J. Pritzl and friends took on the stage. With many old and known songs (more and rewind passed by) and some new songs as well, they really turned on the atmosphere and the crowd. She is finally leaving the country!

I guess I have to start this entry by making my apologies. My sincere apologies that I am writing content on this topic. However, I want to. And in the end… This is my blog.
Today, judges announced that the 14-year old Laura Dekker can start her sailing trip around the world. After more than a year of trials and government time spending, she is finally allowed to start the trip. Her goal is obvious: to become the first 14-year old that has sailed around the globe alone. Why would you even want that?
And besides, why would a judge allow it? The girl is just 14. Who many people can take care of themselves for a year at this age? Besides, should she not be in school, like all the kids from her age? According to Dutch legislation, she is obligated to attend school. But no, Laura’s lawyer has been able to convince the judges that she will follow all courses on her own. Sure! When she’s not sailing I guess.
But she is allowed to go. And she will leave within two weeks. And if all goes wrong, somewhere on the Atlantic? I guess it will be no problem to send some ships, helicopters and planes to save her. Sure, don’t worry. You’ll do your madness, we’ll support you!
